When God wants something to grow, it'll grow. Even in the most unlikely places. Broken, shattered asphalt is hardly a fertile place to grow anything. But, isn't that how we feel sometimes when life is messy and chaotic?
You feel lost, sad, confused and well...broken. You start to stumble in your walk. The pain has you starting to worry and fear. Your prayer changes to, "God I don't understand!" We hardly feel like we're in a position to be useful and productive.
You see, in the very moment of impact of pain, you stop growing spiritually and emotionally. You're stuck. And until you bring it before God and deal with it, and pray believing that He will see you through the pain, you'll remain stuck.
I'm a visual person, so I picture crumbled up pieces of sidewalk. A broken up vase lying on the floor in pieces. A broken and shattered mirror. None of these things can be used when they're all broken into pieces. They become something that is useless. And that's how it can be when you feel broken. You feel useless. Stuck. You're just not moving forward or growing emotionally and spiritually.
But, when God wants something to grow, it'll grow. In the most unlikely places too. Even in your brokenness, confusion and pain, you can grow and flourish. He can breathe life back into you. There is something so beautiful when you realize that God is so much bigger than your pain and brokenness.
His word says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
(2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
There is beauty to be found in your brokenness and weakness. That's when God is most powerful in your life. As a matter of fact, it's usually during those unlikely, difficult times when He's drawing you closer to Him that He'll use you the most. It's in the valley's that we learn and grow so much, so that we can get back up to the peak.
As long as you look to Him and leave it in His hands, know that there is no better place for your pain. Keep rowing. He'll use this pain for good. Trust that He will see you through and make you whole again. And remember, sometimes your circumstance doesn't change, but you do. You'll have peace and joy.
Rest knowing that there is no place beauty can't grow when God's mighty hand is on it.
Growing in His beauty,
